The Mendham Borough Historical Society meets on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. in the Garabrant Center, 4 Wilson Street, Borough. The program at 7:45 p.m. features Jim DelGiudice presenting, “Preserving Our Past in Photographs.” Old photos were kept in the end-table drawer, but now they are everywhere – computers, DVDs, ‘the cloud.’ Is that safer?
In this workshop, the speaker projects images and shows us how to preserve our history for future generations — e.g., the proper ways to handle, store, and display photographic materials, scanning and reproduction techniques, use of smartphone and basic Photoshop.
The audience is invited to bring vintage or current photos, especially those with copy or preservation problems for which techniques may be offered. A lifetime Morris County resident, J. DelGiudice documents the NJ scene with his architectural photography and lectures at area colleges/universities, and also lectures at educational and professional programs in the metropolitan area; he is a three-time recipient of the state’s Historic Preservation Award. Public invited; parking/program are free.
