“Portrait of a Civil War Marriage” – GSNJ Annual Meeting

The Genealogical Society of New Jersey will host its 92nd Annual Meeting this Saturday, November 9th.  The program will feature historian John Zinn presenting “Portrait of a Civil War Marriage”.

Time:  10:30am – 12:30pm
Location:  Pane Room, Alexander Library, Rutgers University, 169 College Avenue, New Brunswick

Civil War soldiers and their wives faced multiple challenges during a crucial period in American history. This talk draws upon the letters of William H. Lloyd of the 33rd New Jersey to his wife, Mary, to illustrate and explain the difficulties facing married couples when husband and wife were separated by great distances and unable to help and support one another directly.

The Society will hold the business meeting prior to Mr. Zinn’s presentation.  Part of the annual proceedings is the annual election of Trustees for the Class of 2016. The Nominating Committee presented the following slate of candidates:  Ann H. Boldt, Pamelyn P. Bush, Melissa A. Johnson, Albert C. King, Fred Sisser III.

All attendees are reminded that Special Collections & University Archives will be open 1:00 – 5:00pm for research.

To register for this FREE program, please email programs@gsnj.org by November 7th.

Hope to see you there!
